Love doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes it’s roses and chocolates, but more often—especially in motherhood, in womanhood—it’s quieter than that. It’s choosing to keep going, even when you’re exhausted. It’s the way you care for others while trying to remember to care for yourself. And sometimes, love looks like standing in front of a camera for the first time and saying: I deserve to be seen.

As a Houston photographer specializing in portraits of women, I’ve come to realize that love is layered. It’s soft and strong. It’s messy and meaningful.

One session that has stayed with me was a boudoir session for a woman about to undergo a preventative mastectomy. She told me she had never felt sexy, and she wanted to feel beautiful in her body—before it changed. She was nervous, unsure, vulnerable. But she was also brave. And together, we created portraits that honored her journey. That honored her body. That honored her.

These moments remind me that love isn’t just something we give to others. It’s something we can choose to give to ourselves, too.

So this February, I invite you to ask yourself: What does love look like for me right now?

Maybe it’s booking a photo session. Maybe it’s buying yourself fresh flowers. Maybe it’s a hot bath at the end of a long day. However it shows up, you deserve to receive it.

Reflection Questions:

  • What does self-love look like for you today?

  • What parts of yourself are you learning to love more?

  • What kind of moments do you want to preserve this season?

At La Vie Photography, I create luxury portrait experiences for women in every season of life—because every chapter is worth documenting. If you’re looking for a Houston photographer who sees you and celebrates you, I’d love to connect.
