If you scroll through your camera roll, what do you see?
Photos of your children. Milestones. Birthdays. Holidays. Everyday moments.
And somewhere in there… maybe a few photos of you.
Most of them taken quickly. Unplanned. Often not your favorite.
As a Houston photographer, I see this all the time. Moms documenting everything—yet somehow missing from their own story.
And I understand it, because I’ve been there too.
For most of my life, I struggled with my weight and my confidence. Getting in front of the camera felt uncomfortable. I told myself I would do it later. When I felt better. When I looked different.

But here’s the truth I’ve come to understand, both as a mom and as a Houston motherhood photographer:
Your children are not looking at you the way you look at yourself.
They don’t see the extra weight.
They don’t notice the wrinkles.
They don’t care if your hair is perfect.
They just see Mom.
The one who held them.
Loved them.
Showed up for them.
A few years ago, I received a message from a family I had photographed. I had documented a maternity session and a newborn session for a young mom.
She passed away unexpectedly.
Those images became some of the last beautiful memories her family had of her with her baby.
That message changed me.
More recently, I photographed a 70th birthday session. Her daughter booked it and said, “We just want to remember how amazing our mother is.”
They hadn’t taken photos together since the kids were little.
It is never too early.
And it is never too late.
As a Houston motherhood portraits photographer, I believe these images are not just for today. They are for years from now, when your children want to remember what it felt like to be loved by you.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to be there.
